WHY WE DO THIS WORK
When someone who has experienced violence reaches out for help, what happens next matters.
Too often, the systems survivors turn to, like the courts, social services, and behavioral health services, are not prepared to respond to the complex impacts of violence and trauma. Lumina Institute works to change that.
Guided by survivor experiences, we bridge the gap between what survivors need and how organizations and communities respond. We help ensure that wherever survivors seek support, they encounter people, programs, and systems prepared to offer effective, trauma-informed, culturally responsive care that promotes safety, healing, and well-being.
